Free Susan LeFevreA message from Susan Marie:
I find it hard to express the horror of what it felt like to be taken from my family, shackled in chains, locked into a small concrete cell without knowing when or if I would be able to see them again. My family was there the next day but to my surprise I would begin to hear from friends and then soon afterwards from thousands of complete strangers who wrote letters filled with compassion and strong words of encouragement. A ray of sunshine had broken through dark clouds. The letters and support helped me not only make it through my ordeal emotionally but I feel they had a direct effect on my being released. In fact I know that they did. And I can’t express my appreciation enough to thank everyone. Hopefully I’ll be able to help someone else or others in the same way that I was helped.
Many of you were informed of addresses in which to write and able to keep abreast of the newest actions by this website and I want to thank the two people who originated and maintained it so devotedly during this entire ordeal.
Kathy and Jerry Morse saw my story on the news soon after I was apprehended in San Diego and they began building the website to help me although we had never met. Kathy spent at least an hour a day on the site and several times a week she sent copies to me in jail of the e-mails that came in along with comments on a petition started initially by woman named Priscilla Dacko. Seeing these comments and knowing that the others in the Michigan Government system were also hearing from these same people gave me much encouragement. Kathy and Jerry would accept only occasional flowers from us for their effort.
A few of the other supporters who are now devoted to continuing the effort to push for reform and to help others who are also unjustly incarcerated by offering research and other assistance are Chris Keil, John Twist, Connie Van Amerongon, Michael Ewing Esq., Cynthia Hansen, Jerry and Kathy Morse. They and many others were as relentless as my own family in their efforts and continued support. Please let us know if you are also interested in joining us.
